Introducing TourShell-01 — a research fabric developed exclusively for Raide. Engineered from the ground up for high-output ski touring, it combines a super air-permeable, hydrophobic polypropylene membrane with UHMWPE ripstop reinforcement for unmatched breathability, waterproofing, and durability. PFAS-free and rated 30,000 mm / 30,000 g, TourShell-01 delivers the rare balance of protection, structure, and packability that defines the future of mountain outerwear
Maximizing breathability and minimizing weight usually means giving up durability. To overcome that, we integrated a UHMWPE ripstop directly into the face fabric, creating a ripstop weave stronger than steel. Unlike other ripstop shells, the grid is nearly invisible so you don’t look like a checkerboard.
The shell fabric uses a polypropylene microporous hydrophobic membrane. Most membranes are hydrophilic, meaning they absorb moisture to move it through. This one repels water instead, preventing the pores from swelling and maintaining consistent breathability even in wet conditions. The hydrophobic design also resists contamination, preserving long-term performance and reliability.
The TourTech Shell features two chest pockets positioned perfectly between your sternum and pack waist belt for easy access. Each pocket features a lightweight, laser-perforated woven liner for added breathability. Both chest pockets feature internal beacon elastic sleeves and webbing loops to securely hold your beacon, phone, or other essentials. No lower pockets are included, as your Raide pack already provides storage on the hip belt.
The pass-through pockets function as vents or access points to your midlayer, letting you reach your beacon, phone, or other essentials from your Hybrid Hoodie. A snap lets you keep the pocket in pass-through mode or close it for traditional use.
We built a pass pocket into the sleeve of the shell without compromising weight or packability by adding a zipper. Inside of the sleeve there is elastic material bonded against the shell to create an envelope style opening just large enough for your pass for those sidecountry days.
Most ski jackets come with a powder skirt, but when you’re wearing a backpack your hip belt is already doing that job. To make the most purpose built backcountry jacket, we did not include a powder skirt, or even a place to zip one in, minimizing bulk while maximizing packability and function.
Ideal for blocking wind during high-output moments, a snap at the neck keeps the jacket up to protect your face and lets you keep your hood on while unzipping the front for extra ventilation.
The TourTech Shell is designed to pack two different ways, depending on how you use it. For the smallest carry, compress it into its own chest pocket and zip it shut—perfect for pre-packing the night before a tour. In the field, roll the jacket into the hood, loop the shock cord around the bundle, and hook it to the included webbing for a quick, easy compression system.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Raide builds light, aesthetic and balanced equipment for steep terrain. We believe that the best gear isn’t dependent on any one variable, like being the lightest, but a combination of style, weight, durability, and functionality to solve problems for outdoor athletes.
